NZ METEOROLOGICAL SOCIETY AWARDS

The Meteorological Society of New Zealand is an independent group of weather enthusiasts with whose aim is to encourage an interest in the atmosphere, weather and climate as related to the New Zealand region.
To this end, the Society runs a web site, arranges regular public meetings, publishes a quarterly newsletter and a journal and oganises an annual conference reporting on the latest developments in meteorology.

Media Awards

In line with the scientific interest in New Zealand weather, the Society conducts occasional checks on the quality of media presentation of weather forecasting to the public. These investigations take place every second year, alternating between visual and print media. A panel judges various aspects of presentation and it's report is delivered at the Society's AGM, rewarding the best presentations with an award.
